The virtues of Italian research and its contribution to the preservation of Pompeii were illustrated at an event on technology applied to the artistic and archaeological heritage organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in London. Finmeccanica’s representatives, Luigi Maria Vignali and Mattia Cavanna, described the innovative technology the company has donated to monitor the condition of the site from space and on the ground.
Also contributing to the Pompeii project are the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, the National Research Council, the Italian Space Agency and the Institute for Environmental Protection and Research. Attendees included experts from the National Trust and English Heritage. Read more, in Italian.
