Argentina: Italy guest of honour at the ‘Bienal del Fin del Mundo’

Italy is the guest of honour at the 4th edition of the “Bienal del fin del mundo”, a cultural and artistic event that recently opened in Mar del Plata and will run through 22 February.

Contrasts and utopias

The event’s theme this year is “Contrasts and Utopias”, and the 150 artists participating under the direction of Massimo Scaringella will explore cultural and environmental themes with the aim of “creating interdisciplinary spaces for reflection and analysis of contemporary problems”. This 4th edition will take place mostly in Argentina, in the cities of Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego and Mar del Plata (province of Buenos Aires), but will have extensions in Chile, in Valparaiso (Parque Cultural) and Punta Arenas on the Brunswick Peninsula.

The event’s organisers include the Italian Foreign Ministry, the Italian National Institute of Music, the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires, the Italian embassies of Argentina and Chile, the Consulate of Mar del Plata and the Rome Academy of Fine Arts.
