Turkey: New Istanbul-Ankara high-speed railway project
Turkish Minister for Transport Lütfi Elvan announced plans for a new high-speed railway line linking Istanbul and Ankara. The goal is to reduce travel time between the two cities to one and a half hours. The line, which will not come from Eskişehir like the currently running line, will be built for trains travelling at up to 350 km/hr. The minister declared that the project concession would be awarded in 2015 on the BOT model and completed in 2019.
