A call for expressions of interest was announced for the ForrestField-Airport Link rail connection from the centre of Perth to the city airport. The project is valued at an estimated AUD 2.2 billion (approx. EUR 1.54 billion) and calls for the construction of 8.5km of railway, including 8km of underground tunnels, as well as 3 railway stations (Domestic Terminal, International Terminal and Bus Terminal).
A single contract is to be awarded for both the design and construction of the civilian and railway infrastructures. The deadline for submission of expressions of interest is 31 March 2015. A shortlist of consortiums will be compiled over the course of the year that will then be invited to submit tenders, with the award envisaged for 2016.
