Ninety companies, 5 business associations and 5 banking groups, for a total of around 190 participants, will be taking part in a trade mission to Cairo from 22 to 24 February 2015. The aim is to examine the business opportunities offered by the Egyptian market, not just in commercial terms but also for industrial partnerships, in the engineering, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. The initiative will provide an opportunity to strengthen the strategic partnership with Egypt at a time when the country is embarking on a new period of growth and development.
Supported by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the mission has been organised by Confindustria, the Italian Trade Agency-ICE, the Italian Banking Association (ABI), RETE Imprese Italia, the Alliance of Cooperatives, and Unioncamere (chambers of commerce).
Monday 23 February will see an Egypt-Italy Economic Forum attended by representatives of both countries’ institutions, including 4 Egyptian ministers. This will be followed by over 1000 business meetings by Italian and Egyptian companies. The government in Cairo has launched a major investment programme worth about 150 billion USD to fund 121 projects in the infrastructure, energy, agriculture and agri-business, tourism, ICT, education and health sectors.
