A new EU-US Marshall Plan for the Mediterranean and Middle East

A two-day (26/27 February) conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation entitled “A new EU –US Marshall Plan for the Mediterranean and Middle East: economic development and cooperation policies”, was arranged by the MFAIC in collaboration with the Association Prospettive Mediterranee, the Ebert Foundation (FES-Italia), EURISPES, The University of Calabria, The Italian Permanent Mission to the European Commission and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) .

Identity and development in the Mediterranean

The conference falls within the scope of the Identity and “Development in the Mediterranean” project and the results of a ten-year study supported by the Central Directorate for the Mediterranean and Middle East of the MFAIC for the purpose of facilitating dialogue between Israeli and Palestinian experts, who on this occasion include Palestinian Minister for Energy Omar Kittaneh.

The debate’s focus is on the latest development regarding the research conducted on several key theme such as electrical and water power sources, low employment levels and attempts to raise them through financial mechanisms with the objective of finding common grounds for peaceful so-existence and development.
