Italian group D’Apollonia /RINA won a competition in Egypt for a 1.7 million USD consultancy contract to draft the Masterplan for the Golden Triangle (Safaga, Qena, El-Quseir – Upper Egitto) mega project regarding mining, industrial, logistics, tourism and farming development in the region. The Egyptian government’s intention is to build a “special economic zone” in the region for the development of mining resources and the generation of industrial, agricultural, tourism and trade activities. Over a span of 20 years, the project should lead to the direct creation of approximately 300,000 new jobs, along with another 200,000 posts related to ancillary opportunities.
