Italy continues to flank Pakistan in the promotion of culture by co-sponsoring the Islamabad Literature Festival. The event draws Pakistani writers, professors, artists and readers, and is the third of its kind after those of Karachi and Lahore. The festival’s aim is to promote culture as a factor in peace, development and growth, a conviction reiterated by Italian ambassador Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani in his speech at the opening ceremony, who underscored how books are fundamental to discovering different cultures, understanding differences and appreciating them.
