Second system meeting on airport infrastructures and services

On Thursday 16 July 2015 the Farnesina hosted the second meeting of the airport table, an initiative coordinated by the Directorate General for Country Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the aim of which is to support the international activities of Italian firms along the entire production line. A total of 40 firms took part in the meeting, during which specific opportunities in the United Arab Emirates and Mexico were presented.

With regard to the first case, thanks to a videoconference link with the Embassy of Italy in Dubai, participants examined the prospects offered by Dubai World Central’s future “aerotropolis” meant to boost the Emirates role as world logistical hub. The investment, consisting of numerous contracts for airport infrastructure projects and others including rail and roadway links with cities, offers numerous potential opportunities for Italian firms that will have the added advantage of being able to rely on the presence of SACE in that country.

In the second case, the design for the future Mexico City airport was presented, which is central to the national infrastructure programme promoted by the Peña Nieto government in 2014. This project will also be divided into tenders to be announced according to a calendar.

The meeting, which generated a broad and fruitful exchange of experiences and views from the firms present, concluded with a pledge to hold another meeting in the autumn to examine initial operational results.
