Cooperation – 500,000 euro for war victims in Sudan

A new initiative by Italian Development Cooperation to protect the human rights of victims of war and violence in the states of Darfur, Blue Nile and Kordofan in Sudan. The Directorate General has approved a voluntary emergency donation worth 500,000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

“Sudan Revised Emergency Appeal 2015”

The funding will support initiatives under the “Sudan Revised Emergency Appeal 2015”, in synergy with our existing Development Cooperation work in Darfur and Kordofan. Projects will focus on protecting civilians, assisting family reunification and providing information for vulnerable groups and migrants.

Other initiatives planned will involve the water supply, food and other essential supplies, health care and support for people with disabilities through physical rehabilitation and the promotion of social inclusion. The Italian funding will also be used to help victims of war and individuals in prison for questions linked to illegal migration.
