Italian Economic Diplomacy – Czech Republic: Prague infrastructure and building Workshop

Some 50 Italian building and infrastructure firms met with representatives of Czech construction sector firms at the “Italy & Czech Republic-Building Together” B2B workshop, held in Prague on 15 and 16 October, to identify opportunities for collaboration and development. It emerged from the meeting that 4.7 billion euro had been earmarked for the next seven years for transport infrastructure projects. These include: the construction of 1,000 km of roadway, expansion of 9,600 railway tracts within 2020 with the introduction of some high-speed tracts, the development of 315 km of waterways, the refurbishment of several of Prague’s plazas and the building of a new “D” metro-line for that city. As regards construction, new calls for tender for a value of 850 million euros are foreseen. The workshop also served to illustrate new legislation on public tenders set to go into effect on April 1st 2016.
