Algeria – Italy guest of honour at International Trade Fair for Public Works

Italian Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio will join Algerian Minister for Public Works Abdelkader Ouali in opening the 13th edition of the International Trade Fair for Public Works (SITP), where Italy is guest of honour.

The fair is the most important trade event in northern Africa, and is dedicated to the construction and public works sector (construction, road working and earthmoving machinery). The 2015 edition will host 360 vendors, of which 139 Algerian and 167 from 12 foreign countries (Italy joins Germany, Belgium, China, Spain, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Portugal, Romania, Tunisia and Turkey) in an area of approximately 22,000 sqm. This theme of this year’s event, which will close on 22 November, is “Basic infrastructure, a driver of economic development: construct and conserve”.

Italy is the foreign country with the largest representation, with the 38 firms united collectively by the Agenzia ICE, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Algiers, in an exhibition area of approximately 600 sqm, and four firms participating independently.

Algeria is allocating massive resources to infrastructure development through the adoption of plans and programme that include strategic projects ranging from road and motorway construction to the modernisation of the port system, basic infrastructure and residential construction.
