This year sees the fourth edition of the “Arte chiama arte” prize, conceived by Andrea Franceschetti and launched in 2012 by the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai. Participants have included the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, the East China Normal University and Contesta Rockhair.
Each year, the competition asks a group of Chinese artists to produce works that reflect their interpretation of an aspect of Italian culture. This year’s theme is Pinocchio, the book by Italian author Carlo Collodi. The winner, selected by an international jury coordinated by the Italian Cultural Institute, was Lu Yingrui. The award ceremony, which coincided with the opening of the exhibition, took place on 10 November 2015.
After the exhibition on the Xianshan campus of the China Academy of Art, the illustrations produced for the competition will travel to Italy for display in Collodi, in Tuscany, and in Taormina, in Sicily. Read more, in Italian.
