Khartoum – Italian businesses looking to invest in energy and agriculture in Sudan

Italian entrepreneurs are heading to Sudan with an important business mission, promoted by the Italian embassy in Khartoum, born of the constant institutional efforts to multiply reciprocal business opportunities. The mission follows the Economic Forum on Sudan, held in July 2015 with the collaboration of the Assafrica association, and the recent visit to Rome by Sudan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrahim Adam Ahmed El-Dukheri. Fourteen Italian businesses will travel to Sudan from February 8 to 12, with the aim of identifying business opportunities offered by the Sudanese market, not only in terms of trade but also of longer-lasting industrial partnerships.

The mission will be multi-sectoral, with particular focus on the sectors of energy and renewable energy sources, agriculture, the food industry, hydroelectricity, and infrastructure. Meetings are scheduled in Khartoum on top of a visit to the state of Al Jazirah, where agroindustry is a major force. Over the course of four days, besides various chances for B2B meetings, the participants will meet with Sudan’s Chamber of Commerce, the Association of large Sudanese investors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Investment, where they will have a chance to examine the tangible potential for partnerships and the Sudanese government’s priority investment programmes.
