Mexico – Pianist Roberto Prosseda to perform in Mexico

Pianist Roberto Prosseda will perform a concert on Feb. 12 at the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) in Mexico City. For the occasion, the artist will play works by Felix Mendelssohn, of which he is one of the world’s greatest virtuoso performers, Carlo Boccadoro, Luca Lombardi and Nicola Campogrande. The musician also actively promotes Italian music of the 20th century. Prosseda has also been giving public performances on the pedal-piano since 2011. On Sept. 11 of that year he presented the first modern performance of the concerto by Charles Gounod for pedal-piano and orchestra, subsequently recorded for the Hyperion label with the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland conducted by Howard Shelley, on a CD including four songs by Gounod for pedal-piano and orchestra. Since 2012 he has held lecture-concerts on musical interpretation with the help of robot-pianist TeoTronico. He played Mendelssohn’s Waltz in D major MWV U 39 on Oct. 27, 2013 and Baerentänz MWV U 74 (Dance of the Bears) in a world premiere at Palazzo Chigi (Ariccia) inaugurating the autumn season of Concerts of the “Sfaccendati” Academy. Lastly, in the same year he released his book “The Piano”, a guide to listening to piano repertoires. The concert is one of the activities organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Mexico City for the Year of Italy in Latin America.
