Gentiloni in Prague, focus on bilateral economic relations

Rapidly strengthening economic relations between Italy and the Czech Republic will be the main theme of a visit to Prague by Minister Paolo Gentiloni today and tomorrow. The agenda will also include main European and international issues, such as immigration and conflicts in the Mediterranean.

The visit takes place at a vital stage in bilateral economic relations, as shown by a strong growth in trade (+ 11.86), which exceeded 10 billion euros last year, and the position of Italy as the second biggest international destination for Czech tourism. Minister Gentiloni will meet the leaders of the Italo-Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Italian business community in Prague in order to explore these and other related issues,.

Business Forum institutional meetings on the agenda

Aerospace, electronics and cyber security will be the themes of the Italo-Czech Business Forum involving 100 companies, 40 of them Italian. The Minister will open the session and attend the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Sogin and Surao, Czech authority for storing radioactive waste.

The agenda includes institutional meetings with Prime Minister Sobotka and Foreign Affairs Minister Zaoralek, on bilateral matters and some of the main European and international issues, principally migration, the Syrian and Libyan crises and the fight against Daesh. A meeting with Minister of Defence Martin Stropnickyis is also planned.
