Italy organised a roadshow in Pakistan entitled “Doing business with Italy” to bolster its economic cooperation with Pakistan and strengthen their economic ties. The roadshow included a seminar in Karachi and institutional and economic meetings in Islamabad and other cities. It provided information on more than 50 Italian companies which want to explore the opportunities offered by the Pakistani market. Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo said there were margins for growth in trade and in increasing economic cooperation between the countries. During the visit to Pakistan last December of Riccardo Monti, the director of ICE, the Italian Foreign Trade Agency, he stated that the two Countries could double their business volumes in only a few years.
The roadshow was organised by the Italian Consulate in Karachi, the Italian Embassy in Islamabad and Italy’s Foreign Trade Agency. David Doninotti and Pierantonio Cantoni of the Association for Innovative Cooperation in Europe gave an economic snapshot of Italy, with a special focus on the sectors of interest to Pakistani businesses, such as agricultural machinery, agro-food, leather goods, marble, packaging and waste management.
