The fifth edition of the Lucio Fontana Award is about to kick off in Argentina. The event is organised by the Italian Consulate General in Buenos Aires in partnership with Pirelli Neumaticos S.A.I.C. The contest is open to emerging artists of Italian origin residing in Argentina. The contest winners will be offered the possibility of spending two months in Italy with the aim of improving their creative talent within an Italian cultural and artistic milieu and, more specifically, immersed in the context of contemporary art in the city of Turin, which boasts a large number of public spaces and many of the most important art galleries dedicated to the new generation of creative talents. The artists will be able to rely on the tutoring via IGAV – the Garuzzo Institute for Visual Arts – focused on student artists-in-residence, which will support the two winners throughout the duration of their stay in Italy. At the end of this period, the artists will be able to display work produced in an exhibition space in Buenos Aires. Requirements for participation in the competition are: Italian citizenship or being of ascertained Italian origin, residing in Argentina, being born after 31 December 1975, having held at least one solo show plus a reasonable knowledge of the Italian language. Each one of the two winners will also have to donate an artwork, produced during or after their stay in Italy, to the Italian Consulate General in Buenos Aires.
