São Paulo – Saint Cecilia Orchestra returns

The Orchestra of the National Academy of Saint Cecilia is visiting Latin America. After travelling around Europe in recent years and stopping off in China and Japan, the orchestra directed by Antonio Pappano, has arrived in the continent. The first stop will be on May 7 and 8 in São Paulo, followed by Buenos Aires. The academy’s visit to Brazil is also of educational value, thanks to support by the Banco do Brasil Foundation. During the two concerts in São Paulo, scholarships will be awarded to two young Brazilian musicians, allowing them to attend specialisation courses in Rome for two months, experiencing life as part of the JuniOrchestra youth orchestra, at the Academy of Saint Cecilia. Performing with the orchestra will be young pianist Beatrice Rana, who will  perform Tchaikovsky’s Concert for Piano and Orchestra No. 1. The Brazilian concerts have been organised with the support of our embassy,  the Italian Institute of Culture in São Paulo, Banco do Brasil and Almaviva do Brasil. The event is part of the Year of Italy in Latin America.
