Uruguay – Lumina 10 award ceremony on May 27

Young Uruguayan designers will take centre stage on May 27 at the national Auditorio del Sodre, where the awards ceremony of the tenth “Lumina” contest will be celebrated. The event was organised by Punta Carretas Shopping in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture in Montevideo, Altavista Lab & Trend, Vogue and the European Institute of Design (IED). The aim is to create opportunities for young designers. First prize is a trip for two to Italy, with accommodation and a summer course at the IED of Rome or Milan. The designers attributed a special mention will win a six-day trip (five nights) to New York. At the ceremony, the three finalists (Lia Marrero y Jimena Fernandez, Juan Gonzalez and Clara Agayo and Clara Agayo) will present their designs.

Year of Italy in Latin America: more than 200 events in 12 months

The initiative is part of the events for the Year of Italy in Latin America, a project promoted by the Italian Foreign Ministry in partnership with the Ministries of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and of Economic Development, the National Foreign Trade agency ICE and the Conference of Italian University Rectors, with the contribution of a large number of companies. Over the Year, more than 200 events will highlight contemporary Italy and its cultural, economic, scientific and technology sectors. It is an ambitious and complex project whose primary aim is to promote the Italian identity and talents in Latin America.
