Guatemala – ItalArte 2016 exhibition opens in Guatemala City

Guatemala is hosting the “ItalArte2016” exhibition, which brings together the diverse artistic expressions of Italian artists or those of Italian origin living in the country, such as Erwin Bendfeldt, Romi Bauer, Maurizio Colombo, Mariandrée Contenti, Brenda Estrada, Ira de Frosutto, Silvia Menegazzo, Eliana Schillaci and Rosangela Veglio. This is the 8th edition of the event, which opened its doors on June 9 and will run until July 8. Admission is free of charge. It has been organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Guatemala City, which in April published a call to submit work to all Italian plastic arts painters, sculptors, photographers and decorators, as well as to all artists of Italian origin residing in Guatemala. The Institute then selected the artists and the works to be exhibited. The artists who participated in the 2015 edition of ItalArte (June 11-July 11) were Sofía Arguello, Romi Bauer, Marino Cattelan, Maurizio Colombo, Erwin Bendfeldt, Ira de Frosutto, Claudio Vásquez Bianchi, Eliana Schillaci, Brenda Estrada, Mariandrée Contenti, Francesca Pizzo, Silvia Menegazzo and Daniele Volpe. The 2014 edition had 10 contestants while this year the selected artists are: Romi Bauer, Paola Beverini, Marino Cattelan, Maurizio Colombo, Luis Cozza, Ira de Frosutto, Silvia Menegazzo, María Mercedes Ortega Figueroa, Roberto Quesada and Eliana Schillaci.
