Cracow – Cinema, Nanni Moretti talks about himself at the Nowe Horyzonty Festiwal

Ever since 1970, Nanni Moretti, film director, actor, screenwriter and producer, has accumulated a track record of successes and awards: starting with Ecce Bombo and following on with Mia Madre, Bianca, Palombella Rossa (Red Lob), La messa è finita (The Mass Is Ended), La stanza del figlio (The Son’s Room) and Habemus Papam. Many of Nanni Moretti’s films that have marked the history of the Italian cinema and not only. These films will now be screened at the Nowe Horyzonty Festiwal, a film festival launched in 2001 and held in the month of July in the city of Wrocław, in Poland. This year the Festival will run from 23 to 27 July and will have Nanni Moretti as its guest star. The Italian director will screen his complete cinematographic production. His initial films were characterized by an ironic and sarcastic vision of the clichés and the problems of the young people of his generation while his later films portray a more substantial criticism of Italian society and customs. “Mia Madre”, his latest film which was released on 16 April 2015, features Margherita Buy, John Turturro, Giulia Lazzarini and Moretti himself. This film competed at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, where it was well-received by the public and by the foreign press.
