Premio New York, offers a 6 month-stay in the Big Apple

The 14th edition of the Premio New York kicks off this year. For the first time this year, in addition to the Foreign Ministry, the Italian Cultural Institute in New York and the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America, it will also be co-sponsored by the General Directorate for Contemporary Art and Architecture and City Suburbs of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. The two young emerging artists selected will be offered the opportunity to live in New York for a period of 6 months, two months more than in the last edition, in order to come into contact with the proposals offered by the big American metropolis.

In addition to the airline ticket for New York, the two winners will also receive a monthly check of 4,000 Dollars for food and accommodation and will be able to use a space at the Brooklyn-based International Studio & Curatorial Program. During their stay, the artists will be able to take part in a whole series of initiatives spanning from cultural activities organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in New York and the Italian Academy to classes on art history, cinematography theory, visual arts and architecture at Columbia University.    

The deadline to file requests to take part in the Premio New York expires on 5 September. The initiative is restricted to Italian artists under 30 years of age working in the field of visual arts having exhibited in at least one solo exhibition and with a fluent knowledge of English.
