Tehran – The Marche Region on the lookout for new investments in Iran

The small and medium-sized enterprises of the Marche Region are looking to Iran, a country that returns to normal international relations after the lifting of the embargo and that offers great opportunities to Italian companies. An economic mission led by President Luca Ceriscioli and with approximately 50 businesses of the Marche Region is underway. The mission was organized in partnership with Confindustria Marche, the Chambers of Commerce of the Marche Region and the universities of Camerino and Macerata. In Tehran, President Ceriscioli and the delegation of businessmen was received by the Italian Ambassador in Tehran Mauro Conciatori and by business and trade representatives who held a long discussion on the problems and perspectives of Iran and of the whole Western Asian region. Iranian media gave the mission extensive coverage, underlining that, following the official talks between the Governments of the two Countries, this is the first economic mission organized by an Italian Region and which does not consist of large corporations but of SMEs. The first working day of the numerous mission took place in Tehran, where they had institutional, economic and commercial meetings. The Iranian authorities hosted the meetings at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy, where they illustrated the Country’s economic situation with a special focus on the Country’s needs and opportunities. The Marche Region is seen (and studied) as a possible model of reference in many sectors of activity. President Ceriscioli said: “The relations that we established during the last few months, built on mutual knowledge and trust, make us reliable partners and it is precisely this relationship, built on esteem and respect, which enables us to initiate a new phase in which to consolidate enduring and hopefully fruitful cooperative relations. I don’t exclude the possibility, later this year, of following this first meeting up with more initiatives in which businessmen will be the major players.”
