Cameroon – Yaoundé Stadium will be tinged with Italy’s white, red and green

The Minister for Economy of Cameroon, the Country scheduled to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, signed two agreements worth 212.2 million euros with Banca Intesa San Paolo, at the presence of the interim chargé d’affairs of the Italian Embassy in Yaoundé. The funds will cover 85% of the construction costs of what will become the Country’s major stadium.
The signing ceremony will also be attended by the Minister of Public Contracts, Abba Sadou, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Pierre Ismael Bidoung Kpwatt, the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, Jacqueline Koung A Bissike, and by senior officials representing the Ministries of Habitat, Urban Development and Finance, as well as the president of Fecafoot, Jospeh Owona. Present at the ceremony will also be representatives of the Piccini Group, which was adjudicated the construction work of the stadium in 2015.
The contract adjudicated for the construction of the stadium and sports complex named after the president of Cameroon represents yet another example of economic cooperation efforts between Italy and Cameroon and is a symbol of the possible contribution that Italian companies can make to the African continent. The sports complex, in addition to a futurist stadium with 60,000 seats, will also comprise training facilities, business buildings and hotels.
