On 12 October the Futurum Award was conferred for the first time to an institution rather than to an artist. The award was assigned to Rome’s MAXXI Museum during the annual event organised by the Monaco-based association Futurum, which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Albert II. The reason for the award was the aesthetic and functional concept that makes the architectural project by Zaha Hadid and the works displayed in the museum “a perfect combination of contemporary art and creativity, expressed as a virtual bridge between the past and the future”, explained the president of Futurum, Kawther Al Abood.
The celebration was attended by representatives of the Museum and of the Association of Friends of the MAXXI. The Italian Foreign Ministry was represented by Cristiano Gallo, the Italian Ambassador to the Principality who, jointly with the MAXXI Museum, anticipated the establishment of a structured cooperation with Monaco’s major cultural institutions with a view to launching integrated promotion initiatives starting from 2017.
