Luciano Bellini, composer, pianist and orchestra conductor, has a very long track record: he has composed symphonies, sacred and chamber music and opera in addition to electronic and theatre music and scores for the cinema, television and ballet. He has been conferred a number of awards both in Italy and abroad. His music has been performed throughout the Western world, from South America to the Far East, and has been recorded by numerous State broadcasting networks. Mr Bellini will be the guest of honour at the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco which, in partnership with the Leonardo da Vinci Society, will present the “Recital italiano” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, 13 October. Mr Bellini will perform music by Italian composers, including Scarlatti, Verdi, Leoncavallo, Bellini, Berio, Busoni and Casella, in addition of the only piano score written by Alban Berg. As the conductor of the Nova Philarmonia Orchestra of Rome, Mr Bellini has performed almost 150 world premieres to date. In Italy, his music has been performed at the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia, the Sala Sinopoli in Rome’s Parco della Musica, the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari, the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro, Milan’s Sala Verdi, the RAI Auditorium in Rome and at many more venues.
