China: Pelliconi opens its first plant in Suzhou
Bologna-based  company Pelliconi opened its first plant in Suzhou (province of Jiangsu). Pelliconi is a major company based in Bologna and leader in the industrial segment of bottle caps and lids for food containers. The company has 500 employees woking in the five plants located in Italy, the United States, Brazil and now also in China. It produces 25.9 billion caps per year. The investment in Suzhou was requested by one of its major international clients -Carlsberg- for which it produces a special pressed aluminun tear-off cap for beer bottles. The deputy director of the SND (Sozhou New District/National HIgh Tech Imdustrial Development Zone) industrial park, Mr. Yu Yu, underlined that  the Suzhou municipality wishes to be in the front line in passing from an economy based on manufacturing industry to an evironmentally-friendly development focused on technological innovation, research & development and services.

Senegal: photovoltaic plant opens in  Malicounda  

A new photovoltaic plant was opened in Malicounda, at approximately  70 kilometres from Dakar. The plant has a 22 MW capacity and is the product of a 25-year concession contract signed by the state-owned electric company, Senelec, and the Italian Solaria Group, supported by the Bergamo-based Chemtech group, which made a 33-million euro investment. The new plant covers approximately 100 hectares, on 45 of which 86,000 photovoltaic panels have been installed, together with 600 inverters, 10 transformers and a control booth. The new plant will boost the generation of electricity in Senegal, meeting the needs of 9000 households.
