Pakistan – Investments and cooperation: government and enterprises on mission in Pakistan

More than 35 enterprises, six associations and over 80 participants will take part in a Country Promotion mission in Pakistan which took off yesterday and will travel to Islamabad and Lahore tomorrow. The aim of the mission is to explore investment and cooperation opportunities between the two Countries. The mission was promoted by the Italian ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economic Development and was organised by ICE Foreign Trade Agency and Confindustria. The delegation is led by Ivan Scalfarotto, Undersecretary of State for Economic Development, Michele Scannavini, president of the ICE Agency and Licia Mattioli, Vice President of Internationalisation of Confindustria. The initiative focuses on the most promising sectors for Italian companies: infrastructure and construction, renewable energy sources, the automotive sector, ICT, and machinery (for agriculture, food processing, the textile and tanning industry, stone and marble processing).

Sectorial workshops were held in Islamabad yesterday where representatives of the Ministry of Economy and of employers’ associations presented the most important investment projects to be implemented in the Country over the next few years. On today’s agenda is the Italy-Pakistan Economic Forum with the presence of the top representatives of the Italian delegation and of the major local economic institutions, in addition to a session of B2B meetings between Italian and Pakistani companies. The delegation will subsequently move to Lahore tomorrow where there will be a plenary session attended by the Region’s authorities and economic institutions and a session devoted to bilateral meetings.
