The Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana, in cooperation with the National Library of Albania, organised the presentation of the book by Aldo Renato Terrusi “Brenga ime shqiptare” (“My Albanian Blues”), scheduled for 11 a.m. on 19 January at the Library. The book represents the author’s journey to seek his origins and background: it tells the story of Aldo’s journey with his uncle Giacomo, who return to Albania after 44 years. Aldo was still a child when Enver Hoxha’s regime locked his father up in the terrible prison of Burrel, where he died without being given the possibility of taking leave from his son and wife. Aldo’s wish to bring his father’s remains back to Albania clashes with the Terrusi family’s sorrowful past in their homeland and with a Country that still now bears the disruptive signs of a dictatorship. Through his family’s memories, testimonials, historic photographs, and the original documents of his father’s trial in 1945, Aldo reconstructs the dramatic events of the darkest period of the history of the “Land of the Eagles”.
