Minsk: “Ever Closer Union” round table and exhibition

For the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, the Italian Embassy in Minsk, together with the European Union Delegation in Belarus, decided to highlight the achievements of the European project with the young generations by organising a round table on 22 March at the Faculty of International Relations of the State University of Belarus. The round table was organised around the “Historical and legal aspects and current state of the European construction project”. Academic staff, EU diplomats and hundreds of International Relations and Law students, were addressed by the Ambassadors of the six signatory countries of the Treaties of Rome and the EU Relations Director of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The subsequent lectio magistralis by Prof. Lucia Serena Rossi, lecturer in European Union Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna, sparked a wide-ranging debate with students.

This was followed by the opening of an exhibition at the university entitled “Ever Closer Union”.
