The Italian Embassy in Beijing, in association with the Italy-China Chamber of Commerce (CCIC) and the Association of Young Italians in China, played host to the “Beijing Career Day”, now in its fourth edition. The event was held at the Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in the capital city and was opened by the Italian Ambassador to China, Ettore Francesco Sequi.
The Career Day initiative was first conceived as an opportunity to provide guidance to a large number of young Italians, who are interested in entering the Chinese labour market, and promote their meeting with Italian businesses. This year’s Career Day was organized into a first session devoted to thematic workshops and a second session dedicated to meetings between young professionals and company representatives.
The speakers at the first session were:
Prof. Marina Timoteo (Almalaurea Director), who presented a study on “Italian graduates and China: profile and placement opportunities”; Federico Roberto Antonelli, Legal Affairs Attache of the Italian Embassy in Beijing, who discussed the novelties introduced by the Treaty on the recognition of qualifications between China and Italy; Giulia Ziggiotti, Secretary General of CCIC, who illustrated the agreement the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Almalaurea signed in January last during the visit Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto made to China; Jacopo Bettinelli of AGIC, who focused on practical issues and common problems encountered when working in China; and finally attorney-at-law Antimo Cappuccio, partner in the Law and Tax firm Pirola Pennuto Zei, who talked about the recent provisions enacted by the Chinese government to regulate the issuance of work visas.
Thirteen Italian companies from the manufacturing, fashion, real estate, interior design, tourism and educational sectors attended the B2B meetings with approximately 100 young Italian professionals, who registered at the event. Among the participating companies, mention should be made of Pirelli, Gucci, Gessi, Giacomini, RDM Management, Savino Del Bene, Gartour, the Italian School of the Italian Embassy, Senmiao School China, and the Galileo Galilei Italian Institute.
