The Italian Ambassador to Mexico, Luigi Maccotta, has recently been on a mission to the State of Chiapas, where he met with the Chiapas Government Secretary, Juan Carlos Gómez Aranda, and representatives of the Secretariats of Public Security and Tourism.
“During the meeting [according to the Embassy website] the Ambassador, who was accompanied by the consular correspondent Miriam Stival, held discussions on potential cooperation initiatives between Italy and Chiapas in the fields of trade, tourism and culture.” At the Hotel Villa Mercedes Ambassador Maccotta met many members of the Italian community in Chiapas invited by Miriam Stival and Claretta Gagna. The Municipal President, Marco Antonio Cancino Gonzalez, also attended the meeting. The head of the Consular Chancellery, Paolo Epifani, was also there on a mission and collected fingerprints of compatriots asking for visas to be issued or passports to be renewed.
