Italian Economic Diplomacy 7 May: latest global news

14 May 2018: event dedicated to the procurement financing of the World Bank Group

The opportunities, initiatives and operating procedures of the World Bank Group will be the focus of the event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Directorate General for Economic and Cultural Promotion and Innovation) on 14 May, 2018.

The World Bank Group is the world’s most important multilateral development bank with a portfolio of more than 1,800 projects worth a total of approximately 62 billion dollars financed in 172 emerging countries. In 2017 alone, the Group spent more than 650 million dollars in procurement for the purchase of goods and services in different production sectors. It is therefore a great source of opportunities to be tapped and still little known among Italian companies, whose participation in this area appears to be marginal compared to the potential.

On 14 May, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will hold an event to present the Group and to raise awareness on the opportunities and on the financial instruments available to strengthen the internationalization of Italian companies in emerging Countries. The event will see the participation of representatives of the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and Simest. The event’s agenda also schedules targeted testimonials by companies with experience in procurement and co-financing with the WBG, who will share with participants the processes and prospects on this theme. To participate and receive a detailed programme click here.
