Norway: a 42 million shipbuilding contract for Vard for a fishing vessel
Vard, the Norwegian naval shipbuilding society controlled by Fincantieri, has announced the conclusion of a shipbuilding contract for the fisheries production society “Nergard Havfiske”: with its fleet of five commercial ships in the north of the country and 170 employees, this is one of the biggest and oldest societies in Norway. The expected delivery date is during the first trimester of 2020, for a contract value of 400 million Krones (about 42 million Euros).
This is an 8.02 Vard ship; it is over 80 metres long with a ray of light of 17 metres. It is the latest generation and therefore really advanced; it was developed by “Vard Design” in Alesund and presents some characteristics which minimise the environmental impact of fishing activities. Among its new features we mainly notice the presence of both a diesel and electric propulsion system and an energetic optimizing system, the volumetric increase of the cargo area destined to the conservation and refrigeration of the fish, the equipment of technical solutions which allow its maintenance in optimal phyto-sanitary conditions and, lastly, the possibility of fully using the biomasses coming from the parts of the captured fishery resources which have not been used.
