Australia: Official presentation of the North East Link infrastructure project
The Minister for Roads of Victoria, Luke Donnellan, officially presented the North East Link, the most ambitious and costly infrastructure project ever launched in the Australian State of Victoria.
The project, to be implemented through a public-private partnership, envisages completing the motorway network circling the metropolitan area of Melbourne and upgrading many of the existing sections. The first lot of the works, which is estimated to be worth between 9 and 10 billion dollars, includes the construction of a long tunnel. Once the first lot is assigned, it will be the turn of the secondary lots, which are worth several billion dollars. With the North East Link, the State of Victoria intends to launch an ambitious infrastructure programme over the next thirty years.
