Workshop on “Administrative Twinning in the European Union”

A Workshop on “Administrative Twinning in the European Union” will be held on May 28, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Ministry of Public Administration, the National School of Administration and Formez PA.

The workshop has a didactic-seminar-like approach. It will offer in-depth information about how to participate in EU administrative twinning, which is one of the means used by the European Commission in favour of pre-accession countries (PA) and of neighbouring countries (ENI), to encourage more effective and wider participation of Italy in this valuable internalization and strategic projection tool.

The speakers of the European Commission will give presentations in which they will offer an exhaustive description of this tool, while various national stakeholders will testify to their cases of successful twinning experiences.

Administrative twinning is an integral part of the European pre-accession and neighbourhood policy and its objective is to intervene in various macro-sectors such as: Democracy and governance; Rule of law and fundamental rights; Education, Employment and social policies (with special emphasis on policies supporting actions aimed at social inclusion, and protection of vulnerable groups and minorities); Environment and climate; Transportation; Competitiveness and innovation; Agriculture and rural development. It would be useful to ensure the participation of representatives of the offices of the various Directorates General of MAECI that have already participated – or that could potentially be interested in participating directly or indirectly in EU twinning projects in the future.
