Business and Experts Forum of the Central European Initiative (CEI) – Milan, 15 November 2019

Within the framework of the Italian Presidency of the Central European Initiative (CEI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in association with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the General Secretariat of the CEI, and with the support of Assolombarda, organized the “Business and Experts Forum of the Central European Initiative” which will be held in Milan on 15 November 2019 at the head offices of the Association.

The Forum represents the first operational follow-up to the “Trieste Declaration” adopted by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CEI member States on 12 June 2019, ratifying the will to boost the economic dimension of the Central European Initiative with a special focus on regional cooperation in the sector of infrastructure connectivity.  

It is precisely the theme of intermodal and infrastructure connectivity, seen as a development factor, that will be the focus of the Business Forum in Milan; the aim is to explore the growth potential of terrestrial (road and railway networks) and maritime connections and the prospects for the port sector, with a view to favouring stronger economic relations and trade flows between CEI and extra-CEI Countries, also in the light of the possible evolution of important commercial routes worldwide, both terrestrial and maritime.

The Forum, which is expected to be attended by representatives of institutions, experts, companies – both Italian and from the 17 CEI member States – banks and sectoral associations, will be divided into four sessions: the first will be dedicated to macro-regional policies and sustainable technological solutions in the area of the CEI member States; the second will tackle the topic of intermodal connections; the third will review all the financial instruments that are available to companies and; the fourth session will focus on presenting the private sector and exchanging experiences between companies.
