The Embassy of Italy in Dakar, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, will organize a series of events in partnership with various Senegalese cultural entities during the Week of the Italian language. The screening of the film ‘Tito e gli alieni’ interpreted by Valerio Mastrandrea will be the opportunity for film director Paola Randi, present in Dakar, to hold, a training course for nine young Senegalese directors in collaboration with the Sup’Imax cinema school in Dakar. The three short films that the students will produce by the end of the course will also be screened at the Sembène Ousmane cinema. The program for the Italian Language Week, whose edition this year is dedicated to the Italian used in plays, also includes the staging of “La follia d’Orlando”, a theatrical performance of Sicilian puppets presented by the famous company “Figli d’arte Cuticchios “. The show will feature the participation of Badara Seck, a Senegalese griot who is a typical figure of the local tradition, a sort of storyteller. Alongside the Sicilian artists, Badar Seck will tell the story of Orlando in the local language, demonstrating the fruitful cultural contamination between our two Countries and their respective cultures.
