China: trade mission by Italian accountants and accounting experts organised by AICEC

The trade mission to China by about 90 Italian accountants and accounting experts organised by the Associazione Internazionalizzazione Commercialisti Esperti Contabili (AICEC) left Hong Kong to continue on to Shanghai and Beijing The delegation, led by AICEC President Giovanni Gerardo Parente, attended the seminar “Hong Kong, an important platform for the development of Italian companies in Asia” The event was organised by AICEC, the Italian Consulate General in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and provided an overview of the economic system of Hong Kong, the advantages it offers Italian companies planning on developing their business interests in China and Asia, and the instruments backing the Italian economic system there to support the companies.

The delegation then took part in a seminar on business opportunities in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area at the Intesa Sanpaolo offices. Representatives of Intesa Sanpaolo and speakers from the worlds of academia and manufacturing illustrated the importance of the city in the context of internationalisation strategies by Italian companies in Asia. A round table was organised by the accountants along with the UniCredit Shanghai Branch and the main professional firms in Shanghai; a presentation was given by Lorenzo Riccardi, treasurer of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, announcing the establishment of the Association of Italian Accountants in China which will act as the operating arm of AICEC and CNDCEC (Professional body for certified accountants in Italy) in the People’s Republic of China.

The AICEC trade mission ended in Beijing with a meeting at the Italian Cultural Institute, where contributions were also made by representatives from the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). The AICEC intends to finalise an agreement with the BLCU to carry out joint training sessions for Italian and Chinese accountants to give them the skills needed to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
