OMAN. FISIA ITALIMPIANTI WINS A 330 MILLION USD CONTRACT FOR DESALINATION PLANTS

Fisia Italimpianti, a Webuild group company (the new name of Salini Impregilo), has been awarded a 330 million USD contract by Oman Power & Water Procurement for the construction of two desalination plants, one of which shall be the largest in the world.
The contracts, as part of a joint venture with the Spanish-based GS Inima, provide for the design, supply and construction of two plants north of Muscat, called Ghubra 3 and Barka 5, featuring an output of 300,000 and 100,000 cubic metres per day, respectively, for the area surrounding the capital. The construction work will be completed in three years and the Ghubrah 3 plant will be the largest desalination plant ever built in Oman.
