ERITREA – IFAD EVENT ON THE POTENTIAL OF THE FISHERIES SECTOR
IFAD, the Rome-based specialised agency of the United Nations dedicated to agricultural development, has organised an online meeting, on 11 March 2021, on the potential of the fisheries sector in Eritrea. The Country has enormous resources, mostly underutilised and to exploit which a programme is currently being implemented called FReMP (Fisheries Resources Management Programme), sponsored by the local Ministry of Marine Resources and funded by IFAD and the German Government. The aim of the programme is to foster the creation of infrastructure and the use of technology in the production, processing and marketing of (marine and inland waterway) fishery resources, to build entrepreneurship and develop local enterprises in the sector.
