Italian Economic Diplomacy 09 March: breaking news from around the world

SOUTH AFRICA – THE OPPORTUNITIES OFFERED BY THE AFRICAN CONTINENTAL FREE TRADE AREA (AfCFTA) ARE THE SUBJECT OF A WEBINAR TO BE HELD ON 11 MARCH. 

The Italian Embassy in Pretoria, in collaboration with the ICE Office in Johannesburg, the Italian-South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, Africa e Affari and other organisations and associations, is organising a webinar entitled “The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA): opportunities, constraints and way ahead” on Thursday, 11 March at 10:00.

The event aims to provide an in-depth overview of the progress being made in the operational implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and to examine in detail the business opportunities that will open up in the short and medium term. The Free Trade Area, which was established on 1 January 2021, involves almost all the African countries, for a total of 1.2 billion citizens and an overall GDP of $2.5 trillion, and constitutes a major development for the African economies, offering unprecedented opportunities to all companies interested in investing and operating in the African market, with a particular focus on South Africa, the continent’s most advanced economy and the driving force behind the AfCFTA.
