The event “The 106th Giro d’Italia: a showcase for Italian know-how” is being held today at the International Conference Hall of the Foreign Ministry.

The event will be opened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. Speakers will include the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè; the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi; the President of RCS, Urbano Cairo; the President of ICE-Agenzia, Matteo Zoppas, and the President of the Rome Expo 2030 Promoting Committee, Giampiero Massolo. Vincenzo Nibali, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2013 and 2016, is also expected to participate. Sports journalist Lia Capizzi will moderate the event.

The event intends to present the activities carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with ICE-Agenzia, to promote “Made in Italy” products during major sporting events of international relevance such as the Giro d’Italia, a showcase to foster the discovery of our country by highlighting the excellence of the territories crossed by the Giro d’Italia, ranging from the Industrial Districts to food and wine, as well as the artistic and cultural heritage. Great attention will also be paid to Rome’s candidacy to host Expo 2030, in the wake of the initiatives designed to highlight Italy’s great skills and experience in the organisation and management of major international events.
