Sparkle announces the landing of the BlueMed submarine cable in Palermo at the “Sicily Hub” data centre and the completion of the laying in the Tyrrhenian section Genoa-Golfo Aranci-Pomezia-Palermo. BlueMed is Sparkle’s new cable that will connect Italy with France, Greece and several countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, a key hub for data traffic between Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The cable is part of the Blue Submarine Cable System project, realised in partnership with Google and other operators. BlueMed will offer high-speed Internet connections and high-performance connectivity solutions to Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecom operators, content providers, enterprises and institutions, to support the growing connectivity needs and digital evolution of connected countries.
