Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi spoke by telephone with his Indian counterpart S. M. Krishna regarding the incident involving the ship Enrica Leixe.
The meeting took place along the lines of the contents of a letter Terzi had sent the Indian minister yesterday.
In particular, Minister Terzi informed his colleague that a delegation of high-level officials from the Foreign, Justice and Defence Ministries had been sent to India to examine the various aspects of the case and to collaborate, with the goal of establishing the truth beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Minister Terzi assured Minister Krishna that, in light of internationally accepted principles of law, the Italian government considered the case as falling within the jurisdiction of its magistrature.
