Press release detail

“I was pleased to learn that the UN Security Council had approved a resolution authorising a team of observers to be sent to Syria to monitor compliance with the ceasefire, in keeping with wishes of the G8 foreign ministers”, asserted Minister Giulio Terzi comment, underscoring the fact that this was an “extremely important step forward”. “It is very encouraging,” Terzi continued, “that the text was unanimously approved: the international community displayed that unity indispensable to encouraging the launch of a political process in Syria”.

“For our part”, Minister Terzi announced, “in compliance with the UN request, we immediately made an Air Force plane available along with equipment for the observers mission in Syria. The plane is to be used, in coordination with the UN base in Brindisi and the Interforces Operational Command, to permit the rapid deployment of the mission”.
