“The police detention of Yoani Sanchez and her husband in Bayamo is of deep concern”, commented Minister Giulio Terzi. “I fully identify with the feelings of solidarity expressed by Italian society”, Terzi continued, “and hope that this episode is rapidly resolved with the release of Yoani and her husband”.
“I have asked our Embassy in Havana to monitor developments closely”, Terzi concluded, “and have given instructions to take the proper steps in Brussels for the purpose of raising the European Union’s awareness and encouraging its eventual assessment within the framework of its human rights actions in Cuba”.
