Mandela: Our thoughts are with the South African people at this painful time, says Under-Secretary Giro

Under-Secretary Mario Giro, who is responsible for Southern African issues, is following the condition of Nelson Mandela closely. “I hope that the President’s condition stabilises. My thoughts, and Italy’s, are with his family and the people of South Africa at this critical and troubled time for the moral leadership of South Africa, an example of peace and co-existence for all of humanity”. This was Under-Secretary Giro’s comment on the deterioration in Mandela’s health.
