Minister Bonino pleased with announcement by Secretary of State Kerry of the launch of talks between Israelis and Palestinians.

Foreign Minister Emma Bonino said she was “very pleased” at the announcement by U.S. Secretary of State Kerry that talks between Israelis and Palestinians would take place in Washington aimed at a negotiated solution and a final end to the conflict.

The minister expressed “gratitude” to Secretary of State Kerry for the “determination and personal commitment that he has dedicated to this dossier, even despite a very difficult moment for him and his family”.

“The decisions taken in recent days by Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian President Abbas are to be admired and encouraged; what is needed at this crucial moment is farsighted leadership” Minister Bonino asserted, adding that “the Italian government will make the maximum effort, at both national and European levels, to support the talks and contribute to a positive result.
